What Would Jesus Do?

Thinking with the Mind of Christ

Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus: Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something grasped, but made Himself nothing, taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to death even death on a cross! Therefore God exalted Him to the highest place and gave Him the name that is above every name that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

Be imitators of God, therefore, as dearly loved children and walk in the way of love, just as Christ loved us and gave Himself up for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God. For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Live as children of light.

Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—His good, pleasing and perfect will.

(Philippians 2:5-11; Ephesians 5:1-2, 8; Romans 12:2)

If you’re serious about letting Christ change your life, you’ll be asking yourself this question a lot.

Christ’s death on the cross did a lot more than teat up your rap sheet and clear your name with the Judge. By accepting His death, you have also accepted His life, the seeds of a new character that He is forming inside you as you let His words become yours, as you begin adopting His nature of purity, trust, and humility, crowding out the self-centered clutter you’ve been accumulating all these years. Christ has come to clean house, to bag up the stuff that needs to go in the garage, to throw open the windows for fresh breezes of godly insight and perspective, to shine the revealing light of His word into every corner of your life. As He starts to work within your everyday experiences, you’ll not only begin doing things His way, but thinking the He thinks, becoming sick to your stomach at the sight of your own unfaithfulness. Yet you are renewed to seek your thrills at no other place than the satisfying waters of Christian obedience and to filter your daily decisions through the lens of His unselfish love.

“God’s intention is that we be free from this world’s mindset. When we think like God thinks, we are free from the bonds of Satan.” – T. W. Hunt

Trust in the Lord

Trust Him even when you can’t trace Him

Sometimes, we face life’s issues and wonder why God has not stepped in to help. Perhaps He has already helped us, but we may not see it yet. Even more so, we do not know how God intends to work out our issues because it is not how we expected it.
Lean not to your understanding. When we don’t quite understand what is going on in our lives it is important to put it in God’s hands. It tells us, lean not to our own limited understanding, but stand confident knowing we can both trust and depend on God.

Do you believe He is working it out for your good? I promise He is. And when this trial is over, you will understand, with the help of the Holy Spirit, God’s wisdom and knowledge for your life.

Trust Him no matter what. Begin today letting God know you trust Him no matter what it looks like. God knows when to step in at the right time and turn things around. Remember, He knows and sees all. Therefore, the direction you desperately want to travel, God may instruct you that it may not be time just yet. Or the person you are praying for may need a little growing first. Whatever it is, God knows best. God will remain faithful knowing He will bless you just when you put it all in His hands, but first you have to trust God.

Declare you will trust Him and let every anxiety, worry, and surrender it all to His will.

Proverbs 3:5 NIV

Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding;

Question Four: When Do I Decide?

This may be the most important question, because – in a way – you’ve already decided. If you haven’t accepted Jesus Christ as your Savior, you are even now rejecting God. Good deeds and religious activities will never bring you forgiveness or peace with God, because they cannot “undo” the wrong things you have done. The penalty for those wrong decisions must be paid. Accepting Jesus Christ is the only way to have peace with God, forgiveness for all that you’ve done wrong, and the strength that comes with His help in your life.

Do you want peace with God?

Today, you can receive God’s forgiveness and the promise of life and friendship which will never end. But you must make a serious decision. God is waiting for you to …

Confess that you have done wrong things (confession is simply agreeing with God that you need His forgiveness and help.)

Understand that Jesus Christ died to pay the penalty for your sin (God raised Jesus from the dead to show that He had accepted Jesus’ payment for you.)

Trust Jesus Christ to come into your life, forgive your sins, and help you to become the person He created you to be.

If you are ready to accept God’s authority and forgiveness, you can express your decision with this prayer.

A Prayer…

Dear God, I know that I have done wrong. I need your forgiveness. I want to be the person You created me to be. I believe that Jesus died to pay the penalty for the many things I have done wrong, and that He came back to life to show His power over sin and death. I know that You have forgiven me because of His sacrifice and not for any good thing that I have done. Right now, I put my trust in Jesus and invite Him to come into my life. Thank You for creating me, loving me, forgiving me and giving me a new life. Amen.
