The Last Supper

Matthew 26:17-30

17 On the first day of the Festival of Unleavened Bread, the disciples came to Jesus and asked, “Where do you want us to make preparations for you to eat the Passover?”

18 He replied, “Go into the city to a certain man and tell him, ‘The Teacher says: My appointed time is near. I am going to celebrate the Passover with my disciples at your house.’” 19 So the disciples did as Jesus had directed them and prepared the Passover.

20 When evening came, Jesus was reclining at the table with the Twelve.21 And while they were eating, He said, “Truly I tell you, one of you will betray Me.”

22 They were very sad and began to say to Him one after the other, “Surely you don’t mean me, Lord?”

23 Jesus replied, “The one who has dipped his hand into the bowl with me will betray Me. 24 The Son of Man will go just as it is written about Him. But woe to that man who betrays the Son of Man! It would be better for him if he had not been born.”

25 Then Judas, the one who would betray him, said, “Surely you don’t mean me, Rabbi?”

Jesus answered, “You have said so.”

26 While they were eating, Jesus took bread, and when He had given thanks, He broke it and gave it to His disciples, saying, “Take and eat; this is My body.”

27 Then He took a cup, and when He had given thanks, He gave it to them, saying, “Drink from it, all of you. 28 This is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins. 29 I tell you, I will not drink from this fruit of the vine from now on until that day when I drink it new with you in my Father’s kingdom.”

30 When they had sung a hymn, they went out to the Mount of Olives.

“Jesus” not other followers!!!!

like jesusJesus is looking for us to be like Him not other followers. There are many people who call themselves Christians but sadly, They don’t live Christ-like lives and that is what being a Christian is. Christianity is more than just a title. It is a life long journey through good times and bad times. The difference between Christian by name and Christian by Truth is in how those situations are handled. Being a TRUE CHRISTIAN is not easy. It requires giving up our sinful and selfish ways and following the ways of our Savior Jesus Christ. Think of it this way, When we think of an electrician we think of someone who works with electricity. Pediatrics is a branch of medicine who deals with children and diseases. We call the people who work in this field Pediatricians. So if we are to call ourselves Christians isn’t it only right to expect ourselves to work in the name Jesus Christ? A True Christian life is not easy but it is worth it. We are reminded in Matthew 7:21-23: 21 “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. 22 Many will say to me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name and in your name drive out demons and in your name perform many miracles?’ 23 Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!  This scripture plainly states that just acknowledging  Christ does not make you a follower of Jesus. It is the relationship we have with Christ that sets us apart from others. Remember Satan acknowledges God and Jesus Christ too, yet he has been banished from Heaven. We pray that you might have relationship with Jesus Christ!!! If you are not sure what that means let us know, we would be honored to help you. JESUS BLESS!!!

Sunrise and The Empty Tomb

empty_tomb_1

John 20

The Resurrection

Early on Sunday morning, while it was still dark, Mary Magdalene came to the tomb and found that the stone had been rolled away from the entrance. She ran and found Simon Peter and the other disciple, the one whom Jesus loved. She said, “They have taken the Lord’s body out of the tomb, and we don’t know where they have put Him!”

Peter and the other disciple started out for the tomb. They were both running, but the other disciple outran Peter and reached the tomb first. He stooped and looked in and saw the linen wrappings lying there, but he didn’t go in. Then Simon Peter arrived and went inside. He also noticed the linen wrappings lying there, while the cloth that had covered Jesus’ head was folded up and lying apart from the other wrappings. Then the disciple who had reached the tomb first also went in, and he saw and believed—for until then they still hadn’t understood the Scriptures that said Jesus must rise from the dead. Then they went home.

Jesus Appears to Mary Magdalene

Mary was standing outside the tomb crying, and as she wept, she stooped and looked in. She saw two white-robed angels, one sitting at the head and the other at the foot of the place where the body of Jesus had been lying.“Dear woman, why are you crying?” the angels asked her.

“Because they have taken away my Lord,” she replied, “and I don’t know where they have put Him.”

She turned to leave and saw someone standing there. It was Jesus, but she didn’t recognize Him. “Dear woman, why are you crying?” Jesus asked her. “Who are you looking for?”

She thought he was the gardener. “Sir,” she said, “if you have taken Him away, tell me where you have put Him, and I will go and get Him.”

“Mary!” Jesus said. She turned to Him and cried out, “Rabboni!” (which is Hebrew for “Teacher”).

“Don’t cling to Me,” Jesus said, “for I haven’t yet ascended to the Father. But go find my brothers and tell them, ‘I am ascending to My Father and your Father, to My God and your God.’”

Mary Magdalene found the disciples and told them, “I have seen the Lord!” Then she gave them His message.

Jesus Appears to His Disciples

That Sunday evening the disciples were meeting behind locked doors because they were afraid of the Jewish leaders. Suddenly, Jesus was standing there among them! “Peace be with you,” He said.  As He spoke, He showed them the wounds in His hands and His side. They were filled with joy when they saw the Lord! Again he said, “Peace be with you. As the Father has sent Me, so I am sending you.”

Then He breathed on them and said, “Receive the Holy Spirit. If you forgive anyone’s sins, they are forgiven. If you do not forgive them, they are not forgiven.”

Jesus Appears to Thomas

One of the twelve disciples, Thomas (nicknamed the Twin), was not with the others when Jesus came. They told him, “We have seen the Lord!”

But he replied, “I won’t believe it unless I see the nail wounds in His hands, put my fingers into them, and place my hand into the wound in His side.”

Eight days later the disciples were together again, and this time Thomas was with them. The doors were locked; but suddenly, as before, Jesus was standing among them. “Peace be with you,” he said. Then he said to Thomas, “Put your finger here, and look at my hands. Put your hand into the wound in my side. Don’t be faithless any longer. Believe!”

“My Lord and my God!” Thomas exclaimed.

Then Jesus told him, “You believe because you have seen Me. Blessed are those who believe without seeing Me.”

Purpose of the Book

The disciples saw Jesus do many other miraculous signs in addition to the ones recorded in this book. But these are written so that you may continue to believe that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God, and that by believing in Him you will have life by the power of His name.

A Very Subtle Enemy‏

“There remains therefore a rest for the people of God.” – Hebrews 4:9

If you’re serious about pursuing a deeper relationship with God,
you’ll constantly do battle with a very subtle enemy called hurry.
The great danger is not that we’ll renounce our faith, but that
we’ll become so distracted by lesser things that we’ll settle for
a mediocre version of it.

Nobody was more in demand than Jesus, yet He regularly withdrew from
activity for the sake of solitude and prayer.  He was busy, but never
stressed out.  And He taught His disciples that too.  “Then the
apostles gathered to Jesus and told Him all things, both what they had
done and what they had taught.  And He said to them, ‘Come aside by
yourselves to a deserted place and rest a while.’ For there were many
coming and going, and they did not even have time to eat.” (Mark
6:30-31 NKJV).  Sound familiar?  It is because hurry kills love that
it is the great enemy of your soul.  Hurry lies behind much of our
anger.  It prevents us from receiving love from the Father and giving
it to those who need it.  That’s why Jesus never hurried.

The truth is, as much as we complain about it, we are drawn to hurry.
It makes us feel important.  It keeps the adrenaline pumping.  It
means we don’t have to look too closely at our hearts.  It keeps us
from feeling our loneliness.  So what’s the cure?  Solitude!  The word
“rest” in this particular passage of scripture is the only time in the
New Testament in which the original Greek wording means “Sabbath rest”.

After spending 40 days alone on a mountain with God, Moses returned to
the people with (a) clear direction; (b) new strength; (c) the
assurance that God was with him.  Are you feeling drained?  If so,
there remains therefore a rest for the people of God.

Silence, Patience & Tears‏

A wise man once said to me “One man’s snowstorm is another man’s ski
vacation”.  I have to agree, as perspective should precede trying to
filter through all that life throws our way. Over the past couple of
weeks, we’ve received several phone calls, emails and prayer requests
all seeming to have the same theme: THINGS ARE NOT GOING WELL RIGHT
NOW.  With the understanding that life is cyclical, I believe today
would be a good day to revisit some truths we’ve presented in times
past.

#1 – If things are going great for you at the moment, praise God. But
please don’t be misled into thinking that they’ll always be going so smoothly.
File today’s message away for future use.

#2 – If things are not going so great at the moment, praise God.  This
message today is just for you.

“There are times when God asks nothing of His children except silence,
patience, and tears.” – Charles Seymour Robinson

Silence: Because during those times that’s all that full trust demands.
Patience: Because that’s all the faith you can exercise.
Tears: Because it’s a better choice than insanity.

God’s sovereignty means nothing to us unless we are regularly reminded
that nothing is beyond His control.  When we obsess about the harsh
wind and the waves of this world, we tend to grow suspicious of God’s
power and goodwill.  In His infinite wisdom, God has His reasons for
allowing certain things to happen.  And because He is God, He does not
always choose, nor is He obligated to reveal those reasons to us.  His
nature is unchanging.  And because His nature is unchanging, we can
rest in the fact that when perilous threats arise, historically, God
uses them purposely to further establish His people.  What does He
want to further establish in you?

There is only one infallible way to safely weather the numerous
difficulties you will encounter in life, and that is to expect nothing
from yourself, but in everything to expect and depend upon God for
relief.  If you cling to this truth, you will be led through all your
problems to fellowship with God.  Your trials can then become your
greatest blessing when you remember that God does not waste life
experiences!  So be silent, be patient and if you have to, go ahead
and shed a tear.

“Brokenness is the mark of a person that is qualified to be used by
God.” – Eric Mason
