Living in the Spirit

But when He, the Spirit of truth, comes, He will guide you into all the truth. He will not speak on His own; He will speak only what He hears, and He will tell you what is yet to come. He will bring glory to me by taking from what is mine and making it known to you.

The Spirit searches all things, even the deep things of God. For who among men knows the thoughts of a man except the man’s spirit within them? In the same way no one knows the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God. We have not received the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, that we may understand what God has freely given us. This is what we speak, not in words taught us by human wisdom but in words taught by the Spirit, explaining spiritual truths with Spirit words. The man without the Spirit does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him, and he cannot understand them because they are spiritually discerned. The spiritual man makes judgments about all things, but he himself is not subject to any man’s judgments.

(John 16:13-14; 1 Corinthians 2:10b-15)

When the Spirit of the living God dwells inside you, you’re a whole lot smarter than you think.

That ocean of relief and refreshment that you felt as you turned your back on sin and turned your life over to Jesus Christ’s control was the Holy Spirit of God rushing into your heart, filling you with the raw power of everlasting life. The Bible says: “Having believed, you were marked in Him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit, who is  a deposit guaranteeing out inheritance.” (Ephesians 1:13b-14) Sort of like earnest money on the house God’s building you in heaven. Once we get there, we’ll understand all that our salvation means. We’ll see why we had to go through some of the tough times we faced on earth. Maybe we’ll even find out how God pulled off that Red Sea thing, or why He thought it best to put our big nose right in the middle of our face. But until then, God has given us His Spirit, so that we don’t have to rely on our own vague observations and knowledge about spiritual things in order to do what He wants, to understand His plans for us, to put ourselves into position to serve Him with power and freedom.

“There is no one who magnifies Christ as the Holy Spirit does. His most intense desire is to reveal Jesus Christ to men.” – R. A. Torrey

Black Friday – *FREE GIFT*

550700_10151364041135676_1137554802_n

If you died tonight, where would you go? Heaven or Hell?  If you confess your mouth, JESUS IS LORD & believe in your heart that Jesus died on the cross for our sin & rose from the grave, you will be saved! -Romans 10:9. For all have sinned & fall short of the Glory of God! -Romans 3:23. For the wages of sin is death, but the Gift of God has everlasting life in Christ Jesus our Lord. -Romans 6:23.

What is truth? Who has it? Let’s face it: In today’s world, it’s hard to know what’s true anymore. How’s your journey going? Has your search for real answers only led you down a dead end? Truth is more than just talk. Real truth is soul bending. It’s deep, profound and life changing.  We invite you to find this truth and enter The Passage.

God created you in His image. He wants you to know Him personally, so you may experience the love, peace and destiny He offers.

GOD’S DESIGN “So God created man in his own image, in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.” (Genesis 1:27)
GOD’S LOVE “For God so loved the world, that He gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” (John 3:16)
GOD’S PLAN “Now this is eternal life: that they may know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent.” (John 17:3)

What prevents us from experiencing the life of love and destiny God desires for us?

Our Refusal

PEOPLE ARE SINFUL. Sin keeps us from knowing God personally and from experiencing His love, peace and destiny. Sin enslaves, blocks and separates us from God.

PEOPLE ARE SINFUL “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23)
Sin is our innate refusal to go God’s way and instead, to go our own way and do our own thing. God is holy, that is, perfect in who He is and all He does. Our sinful nature and actions offend God’s holy nature and result in a broken relationship and separated from Him.
PEOPLE ARE ENSLAVED “Jesus replied, ‘I tell you the truth, everyone who sins is a slave to sin’” (John 8:34).

PEOPLE ARE SEPARATED “For the wages of sin is death…” (spiritual separation) (Romans 6:23)
WAGES = PENALTY
People are sinful and separated from a holy God by a great gap. We may try to cross that gap by living a good life, not harming anyone, attending church or other religious meetings, or by giving money to our favorite charities. All of these efforts fail because the sinful condition of the heart remains unchanged, enslaved to sin.

The third principle (Below) explains the only way to cross the gap…

The Message

Jesus Christ came to provide the bridge back to a destiny with God. Jesus Christ alone forgives and removes our sins so we can know God personally, and experience His love, peace and freedom forever.

HE DIED ON THE CROSS IN OUR PLACE “For Christ died for sins once for all, the righteous for the unrighteous, to bring you to God…” (1 Peter 3:18). Jesus Christ was able to pay the penalty for our sins not find Him guilty of any wrongdoing.

HE ROSE FROM THE DEAD “Christ died for our sins…He was buried, He was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures…He appeared to Peter, and then to the Twelve. After that, He appeared to more than five hundred of the brothers…”  (1 Corinthians 15:3-6)
Christ’s resurrection proved that He has the power over death to enable us to live eternally with God.
HE IS THE WAY TO GOD “Jesus answered, ‘I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me’” (John 14:6).

HE SETS US FREE “So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed” (John 8:36).

His Son, Jesus Christ to die on the cross for our sins, in our place. In this way He paid the death penalty that we deserve.

What would a person need to do in order to change their destiny to know God and experience the love, and freedom from sin that He offers?

Our Respect

We must individually receive Jesus Christ, because only He provides the destiny to God. Only then can we experience His love, and live in freedom for eternity.

WE MUST RECEIVE CHRIST “Yet to all who received Him, to those who believed in His name, He gave the right to become children of God” (John 1:12).
WE RECEIVE CHRIST THROUGH FAITH “By grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; not as a result of works that no one should boast” (Ephesians 2:8-9, NASB).
Faith = trust, dependence on God
WHEN WE RECEIVE CHRIST, WE HAVE A NEW DESTINY.  WE EXPERIENCE HIS LOVE, FREEDOM, AND ETERNAL LIFE. [Jesus speaking] “I came that they might have life, and might have it abundantly” (John 10:10 NASB).
To receive Christ:

  1. Recognize and admit you need to be forgiven of your sins.
  2. Admit you can do nothing on your own to free yourself from your sins.
  3. Turn away from your sins (repentance) and place your trust in Jesus Christ alone.
  4. When you trust Christ, you receive His complete forgiveness and an eternal relationship with God.

Knowing intellectually that Jesus Christ is the Son of God is not enough. Having an emotional experience will not change your destiny and allow you to experience His love, peace and freedom.

We receive Jesus Christ by faith, as an act of our will.

Think About It

These two circles represent two kinds of lives or paths that people choose:

SELF-DIRECTED LIFE Christ is outside the life. The different areas of life represented by the dots are self-directed and not in harmony with God’s desires. CHRIST-DIRECTED LIFE Christ is in the life. This person has received Christ and His forgive-ness for their sins. Christ directs every area of life, resulting in harmony with God’s desire and plan.

Which circle represents your life right now?
Which circle do you want to represent you life?

YOU CAN RECEIVE CHRIST RIGHT NOW BY FAITH THROUGH PRAYER. (Prayer is just talking with God)
God is not so concerned with your words as He is with the attitude of your heart. You must mean what you pray, for God knows your heart and you cannot deceive Him.

Here is a suggested prayer: Jesus Christ, I need you. I confess that I have sinned against You and have been running my own life.  Thank you for dying on the cross for my sins. Please come into my life and forgive my sins and set me free. Begin directing my life. Change my destiny.  Make me into the person you created me to be. Thank you for answering my prayer by coming into my life and giving me eternal life. Amen.

Does this prayer express your heart’s desire? If it does, pray this prayer right now and Christ will come into your life, as He promised.

How to Know…

HOW TO KNOW THAT CHRIST IS IN YOUR LIFE Know He answered your prayer and came into your life? You can know that Christ is in your life because of the 1 John 4:14-15:

“And we have seen and testify that the Father has sent his Son to be the Savior of the world. If anyone acknowledges that Jesus is the Son of God, God lives in

God and His Word are completely trustworthy.
THE BIBLE PROMISES ETERNAL LIFE TO ALL WHO RECEIVE CHRIST “And the witness is this, that God has given us eternal life, life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have the life. These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, in order that you may know that you have eternal life.(1 John 5:11–13, NASB)
Thank God daily that Christ is in your life and He will never leave you (Hebrews 13:5).  You can know on the basis of His promise that Christ lives in you and you have eternal life, from the moment you invited Him in.  He will not deceive you.)

What if you don’t feel any different?

DO NOT DEPEND ON FEELINGS This train diagram illustrates the relationship between fact (God and His Word), faith (our trust in God and His Word), and feeling (the result of our faith and obedience).  Read John 14:21.

The train will run with or without the caboose (feeling). In the same way, we as Christians do not depend on feelings or emotions. We rely on the promises of God’s Word, not our feelings. The Christian lives by faith in God and His Word.

Enjoying God
THE MOMENT YOU RECEIVED CHRIST BY FAITH, AS AN ACT OF YOUR WILL, MANY THINGS HAPPENED, INCLUDING THE FOLLOWING:

  1. Christ came into your life (1 Corinthians 6:17; Colossians 1:27).
  2. Christ set you free from your sins and forgave you (Romans 8:1-2; 2 Corinthians 3:17; Galatians 5:1; Colossians 1:14).
  3. You became a child of God (John 1:12).
  4. God lavished His love on you (Romans 8:35–39; 1 John 3:1).
  5. You received eternal life (John 5:24).
  6. You began the new and satisfying life for which God created you (John 10:10; 2 Corinthians 5:17; 1 Thessalonians 5:18).

Being freed and loved by Christ is all good! He changed your destiny.  Would you like to thank God in prayer right now for what He has done for you?  By thanking God, you demonstrate your faith.

To enjoy your new relationship with God to the fullest…

SUGGESTIONS FOR CHRISTIAN GROWTH Our relationship with Christ grows as we trust God more and more with every detail of our lives. “The righteous will live by faith” (Galatians 3:11). This trust develops as we:

G Go to God in prayer daily.  (Col 4:2)
R Read God’s Word daily (Acts 17:11).  Begin with the Gospel of John
O Obey GOd moment by moment. (John 14:21)
W Witness for Christ by your life and words (Matthew 4:19; John 15:8)

GET INVOLVED IN A GOOD CHURCH (Bible-based, Christ centered) God’s Word admonishes us not to forsake “the assembling of ourselves together…” (Hebrews 10:25; Acts 2:42–47). Several logs burn brightly together; but put one aside and its fire goes out. So it is with your relationship to other Christians. If you do not belong to a church, do not wait to be invited. Take the first step; call the pastor of a nearby church where Christ is honored and His Word is preached. Start this week and make plans to attend regularly. hear from you!

If you prayed this prayer & meant it. WELCOME to God’s family! Please email us at 11sixboyz@gmail.com to share the good news & we will help you walk with the Lord and we help find a good church for you. Jesus bless you abundantly! Logos

The logos, the Word, was in the beginning, was with God, and was God. (John 1:1) The Word created all things, and there is absolutely nothing in existence that the Word did not create. When one can comprehend that fact, they can realize the importance of the Word, the power of the Word. The Word is not a creation that came into existence at “the beginning,“ it was always there. It is eternal. The “beginning” is the beginning in Genesis – the first act of creation, when God made the heavens and the earth. God spoke the Word and it was so. So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them. To be created in the image of God does not mean we have any of His unlimited attributes such as omnipotence or omnipresence; human beings were not made to be little gods. Man is a creature who has limited abilities like His maker’s unlimited abilities. God cannot duplicate himself by creating another like him. A creature can never be equal to the eternal creator. When it states we were created in His image it means man was given a spirit. God is a Spirit and He created a being with an immortal spirit and soul, with whom He could communicate. Because of the fall of Adam in the garden man died spiritually. After Adam sinned the same nature of sin was passed on to all of man. All those who are not saved are still in this nature. This is why the Bible says we must be “born again” (“born from above”) in order to be formed in God’s image and likeness. Through a spiritual rebirth God wishes to restore fallen man in his sinful state to begin a relationship with Him (Creator to creature) by making his home within him. In Romans 8:29 we are told that we are “to be conformed to the image of his Son.” This is a continual process starting from the time we are born again.

God intends that our ambition in life will be that we might grow spiritually. We are to grow in spiritual maturity and experience, in our understanding of the truth, and in our knowledge of the Lord Jesus. Spiritual progress is not only seen in our knowledge of the Word, it is displayed and is only actually true when its principles are expressed in our lives. We must live the Word.

The flesh is always and unchangeably contrary to God and His will. The flesh opposes the Spirit. The flesh and all it produces, be it ever so pleasing and attractive to men, can’t be accepted by God. All service to God must be done in the power of the Spirit through the yielded life of a child of God. God made His contract with man through his spirit, not his senses. The Father can unveil the Word to a man’s spirit so that it becomes a living thing in his daily walk. The first thing that must be done after one is recreated is to bring the five senses into subjection to the recreated human spirit, and the Word. When this is done the mind will be renewed.

A man who is recreated, has never yet learned to walk in his spirit, governed by the Word. He walks a common man. He walks just as he walked before he was born again. In a short time, he will break fellowship with the Father and fall back into the old life. As a new creation man must walk by faith. Faith is a product of your spirit, just as wisdom is a product of your spirit. Faith and wisdom is enriched by meditation in the Word of God.

All the knowledge that the brain receives comes through the five senses. If a man is governed by his senses his spirit is held captive. As a new creation we should be ruled by the spirit, making it possible for him to have fellowship with the father.

The way I develop my spirit man is to read the Word daily and live what I read. First I thank my Father for making Jesus wisdom for me. Then I know that as I walk in fellowship with the Word, His wisdom will be mine at every crisis. This continual confession of Christ as my Wisdom will transform my entire conduct, my way of thinking and acting will take me out of the old rut and into a new bountiful life. The more of the Word I get in me the more my spirit will grow. My confession is “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” The love of God is shed abroad in my heart. Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God. I acknowledge the fact that I am what the Word says I am. I can do what the Word says I can do. My reading the Word is not a fifteen minute a day ordeal, that I do once in the morning. It is my meditation that I do throughout the day. Keeping the scriptures in me allows me to have a word for every situation that arises during my daily activities. I build my house upon the rock (Word) that when the storms arise I will not be moved.

To become more God inside minded we have to become God inside conscious. We have to take hold of the fact that “Greater is he that is in us, than he that is in the world. (1 John 4:4) We have to believe in love, we have to believe in God’s love for us. The agape type of love. We have to accept the fact that we have His ability, His courage, and His strength. We are no longer in the realm of failure but success. To be God inside minded Romans 8:17 becomes reality to us “Now if we are children, we are heirs- heirs of God and co-heirs with the Messiah, in fact, we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory. We abide in God and He abides in us.

The fruits of the Spirit is neatly divided into three general groups, though some overlapping of application occurs between them. The first group love, joy, and peace- portrays a Christian’s mind in it’s most general form, with special emphasis on his relationship with God. The second group, beginning with patience, contains social virtues relating to our thoughts and actions toward fellow man and our attitude during trials. Patience is a area in my life that I need work in. The Bible reveals God’s patience as a quality of His character that deters Him for long periods from retaliating against those who sin against Him. Perfection in this life is to become what God wants us to become. If I could understand that my life is in God’s hands as He molds and shapes me, then the meanings—the eventual outcome—of joy and sorrow are the same. God intends the same result whether He gives or takes. The events of life are merely the scaffolding for shaping me into His image, and I should meet them with patience as He continues His work. This will work to flatten out the emotional extremes I tend to experience. I confess Proverbs 14:29 “Whoever is slow to anger has great understanding, but he who has a hasty temper exalts folly.” Patience grows from a combination of faith, hope, love and self-control. This proverb and many more reveal, I should cultivate patience because it shows understanding and because it is wise. Wisdom produces success, and being successful in glorifying God is what life is all about.

During this course one of the principles that I have learned about that has brought victory in my life is wisdom. Without wisdom all the knowledge in the world would be worthless. James 1:5 “If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him. There is two types of wisdom: worldly wisdom and heavenly wisdom. Worldly wisdom stands in contrast to that which God originates in heaven. There is nothing transcending, or of any lasting value in earthly wisdom. Just like everything else material it is subject to corruption and decay. Heavenly wisdom has it’s origin in Jesus Christ. It comes down from heaven and is God’s gift to every believer who requests it. Words of wisdom: if God is your co-pilot, swap seats.

False Advertising‏

***Before you read this message, I need a couple of HUGE favors from you. First, I need you to purposely read this devotional slowly. It’ll allow you to absorb this truth with more clarity. Next, I’m humbly requesting that you inhale deeply . . . clear your mind . . . and remove the mask. By “mask”, I’m referring to that side of you that conceals your true identity. Visually, others behold you in a light that you know is inconsistent with who God knows you to be. It’s okay, though. There’s no need to feel condemned. Everyone has a mask. Some have multiple masks. My prayer in writing this devotional is that you’ll be transparent with yourself long enough for God to challenge you in those specific areas where you habitually fall short.***

“Even so you also outwardly appear righteous to men, but inside you are full of hypocrisy and lawlessness.” – Matthew 23:28 (NKJV)

When Jesus directed these words to the scribes and Pharisees, He was verbally boycotting the established practice of masking (or false advertising). The scribes were the official copiers of the Old Testament Scriptures. They were also teachers of the law. The Pharisees (meaning “separated ones”) were a group that emphasized Jewish traditions and prided themselves on their strict observance to every detail of Jewish law. Their extreme intolerance of pagan culture, along with the piety and patriotism they displayed, made them respected leaders among their people. These people typified mask wearing because they promoted an untrue, misleading and deceptive representation of their faith. In other words, they were guilty of false advertising. Another way of translating the above verse is “Externally, you come across as one who lives morally and is wholly conformed to the will of God. But the truth is, internally, you are overflowing with little to no virtue. You are an actor rotting on the inside because you choose to willfully operate in deceit.” Sometimes those who most loudly protest the sins of others are secretly guilty of those same sins . . . or even worse ones.

What about you? When people see you, is what they see what they get? What’s that sin that seems to get you every time? As Christians, we must be very careful not to hide the Christ we proclaim behind a lifestyle that is unworthy of Him. Only to the extent that we reveal the character of Christ in our own lives, shall we be able to touch people’s hearts with our words & actions. We must reject being false advertisements of God’s goodness. Sincerely believing He is alive, but intentionally (or unintentionally) living like He is dead clearly illustrates what false advertising looks like in the life of a Christian. None of us have the right to abuse the liberty of Christ by using freewill to justify ungodly actions. Today, the God of Creation is pleading with you to walk upright before Him in ALL areas of your life.

As living exhibitions representing a message greater than our own, our heart’s desire should be to live in such a way that the Christ we advertise in our lifestyle truly matches up with the Christ that lives in us. I want to close with 6 self-examining questions to gauge where you are in avoiding the regret that comes with falsely advertising our God:

*Are you waiting for someone to come to you and make things right?
*Have you secretly celebrated someone’s failure?
*Do you have anything going on that you hope no one discovers?
*Have you recently lied to someone?
*Are there people, problems or questions you’ve been avoiding?
*Who are you mad at?

“When you live in a country where even the most pagan believe to have some relationship with God, strong words must be spoken.” – Paul Washer
